solo

2020-2023

The project began to develop during the first winter lockdown. From admiring the development of photography in the 19th century to being inspired by the avant-garde movements of the early 20th century, I
was led to experiment with photographing movement myself. It is a subjective experience of dance and at the same time invites the viewer to their own interpretation. It is an imaginary representation of dance, movement, almost floating, which appeals to irrationality anddeparts from a structured representation. The final shots in the development of the project were taken with an exceptionally long exposure. Solo does not only refer to solo jazz dance, but also alludes to the time when the project began to take shape, at a time when we were all confined to our homes, dance halls were closed, socializing was prohibited, and in one way or another, we danced alone.
